Industrial Goods
Rapid industrialization features in the progress of civilization throughout the world today. A reference to industrialization automatically brings up the issues relating to industrial goods and services. The domain of industrial goods is so vast that it may not be possible even to list out a part of it. Industrial services on the other hand are something that relates to installation, maintenance, and promotion of an industry.
Broad classification of industrial goods
Industrial goods may be classified into two broad categories. The first one is the raw materials that are used to manufacture or process different goods. This may include different metals, ores, and almost every item from which industrial goods are manufactured. Coal, wood, gas, electricity may also be categorized since they are used to process industrial goods. On the other hand the second category of industrial goods may contain finished products. This includes everything the human society puts to use right from a fountain pen for writing to a multi storied building; all can be classified as finished industrial goods or products. The concept of industrial goods is so broad that it is really difficult to minimize it.
Industrial goods in business world
In business world however, the concept of industrial goods has been narrowed down to the articles that is required to run or maintain an industry and not the finished product in true sense of the term. Industrial goods in this perspective may refer to the machineries, raw materials, and processing tools that allow an industrialist to produce fine finished goods for use of the ultimate consumer.
Industrial Services
This concept is even more confusing than the concept of industrial goods. We refer to services as something that is offered by someone to a buyer or recipient either on payment of cost or as a free service. The service that is related to industrial goods, processes, studies etc are normally referred to as industrial service.
Industrial services in the narrowed sense
While in broader sense the industrial services can bring up into its ambit a host of such services either directly related to the industry or having an indirect impact on it, in strict sense industrial services refers to services related to maintenance and improvement of an industry. These may include industrial repair services, industrial control services, mechanical inspection services, and or ISO 9001 certified manufacturing and design services. These are services directly linked with the strict definition of industrial goods.
